‘NOW WE ARE EARTH/ An Orchestra’ is the multifaceted vision of the future by Nicole Beutler. In times dominated by doomsday scenarios, theater offers us the opportunity to envision a future for humanity on this planet.

This dance opera seeks a new balance with all that lives. Humans, animals, plants, fungi, bacteria, and technology: ‘NOW WE ARE EARTH’ is a dream of the future in which all elements live in peace and harmony with the planet.

Inspired by the endless and inextricable connections of fungal threads in a mycelium, all performers together create a polyphonic, resonant web full of colors and sounds, like an eternally repeating and branching pattern.

In the performance, the boundaries between stage and audience are stretched, and the visitor experiences a show where music, singing, dance, and set design merge into an eco-futuristic ‘chorus for greater coherence’. The voices of the performers and a multi-headed city choir, led by the young composer Timo Tembuyser, along with the set design by Lena Newton and the electronic, futuristic soundscapes by composer Gary Shepherd, form a Gesamtkunstwerk that resonates like a collective, vibrant breath. 

Prior to the performance, an impact program takes place in the foyer, consisting of various installations and activities, such as an audio introduction, reading table, short film, and meeting with a climate psychologist.
