Accessibility

Making Meervaart accessible for everyone is important to us, so that visitors with different backgrounds and needs can enjoy our performances.

Making Meervaart accessible to everyone is important to us, so that visitors with different backgrounds and needs can enjoy our performances.

There is an elevator in the theater. On the ground floor (near the elevator), there is a MIVA toilet available. We have several facilities and special arrangements for visitors with disabilities. Do you have specific requests? Please contact us at 020-4107 777 or [email protected] (ticket sales) or [email protected] (accessibility).

Wheelchair Users

All public areas of Meervaart are accessible via the elevator and are accessible for people with disabilities. In the foyer by the restrooms, there is a toilet for people with disabilities. In the halls, there are a number of seats available for wheelchair users and any accompanying helpers.

Wheelchair Seats

Meervaart is accessible for wheelchair users. In the Red Hall, there is space for four wheelchairs. We keep a number of seats reserved for any accompanying helpers. In the Blue Hall, there is room for 1 wheelchair. Again, we keep a spot reserved for any accompanying helpers.

Reservation

You can reserve wheelchair seats by emailing [email protected] or calling 020-4107 777 (Monday to Friday from 12:00 to 17:00). Unfortunately, online reservation of wheelchair seats is not (yet) possible.

Deaf and hard of hearing

In our Red and Blue Hall, there is a hearing assistance system available for the hard of hearing. This system from the brand Phonak Roger works with an FM transmitter and receivers. You can borrow the individual receivers with headphones at our reception. You will receive clear instructions.

You can also send the sound signal directly to your hearing aid, provided it is equipped with a so-called T-coil (telecoil).

Do you have an invisible disability?

Not all disabilities are visible, such as autism, chronic pain, dementia, anxiety, and visual or hearing impairments. Daily life with an invisible disability can be demanding, as can a visit to Meervaart. On the other hand, it can be difficult for our staff to recognize visitors with a disability. To be more aware of this, we are happy to participate in 'Hidden Disabilities Sunflower'.

Visible when you want to be seen

Wearing the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower keycord discreetly informs our staff that you may need a little extra support or time. Our staff may ask you if they can help you. You or your caregiver can also use the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower to ask us for extra assistance.

Dogs

In Meervaart, official assistance dogs are warmly welcomed. If you need help finding a comfortable seat for you and your dog, please send an email to [email protected] or call 020-4107 777. Please keep in mind that your assistance dog must wear a recognizable assistance dog vest and/or harness.

Parking for the disabled

Meervaart has a parking space for the disabled in front of the entrance. You cannot reserve this in advance. However, with a disabled parking card, you can also park for free in this parking space where paid parking applies.

It is also possible to drive up to the main entrance to drop someone off.

Tour Meervaart

Meervaart has created a tour of the building so that you know what to expect during your visit. Watch this video with sound or turn on the subtitles.
