‘Falling’ symbolizes the moments of being in control and losing control, and the impact on and resilience of individuals and their loved ones after a traumatic experience. The performance is strongly influenced by an emotional event in the life of choreographer Joop Oonk, who found a good friend shortly after a brain hemorrhage.

Whirling winds and falling figures, that is what you can expect in ‘Falling’. The piece explores gravity, stimulates the imagination, and sharpens the senses. By using fans and wind machines, various sources and flows of wind are active on stage, creating a 'falling' image.

With this concept, choreographer Joop Oonk seeks a gap, a stretching, or a freezing of this movement. The ‘falling’ represents the unpredictability of life, with the wind as a symbol for the coexistence of freedom and destruction.

‘Falling’ is a co-production with Festival Boulevard (Den Bosch) and V2_ Lab for the Unstable Media (Rotterdam). The performance is part of a trilogy about motions (water, wind, and interim) in which Oonk questions the norm regarding the movement and mobility of (in)valid bodies.
