In Triple Vision zijn drie verschillende choreografieën te zien die toch samenhang vertonen. Choreograaf Kalpana Raghuraman zoekt in alle drie werken naar een vorm van balans, en in alle werken pakt dat prachtig uit.

The contemporary dance company Kalpanarts presents three unique pieces in a triple bill: a remake of two duets ('Tara' and 'Fluid') and a brand new solo ('Whisper'). A modern dance triptych with sacred texts, breakdance, Ayurveda, a looping station, astrology, Shiva and Shakti, Indian singing & dance, and the goddess Kali.
The duets premiered online during the corona period. Due to the overwhelming reactions, they are finally going on tour now.
The three pieces showcase what Kalpanarts stands for: bringing together different styles and disciplines, and placing Indian culture in a contemporary context. Each work explores themes of tradition and modernity, personal and societal stories, and the dynamics between culture and identity.
'Whisper' dives into the personal struggle within the healthcare system. The solo demonstrates the fight to be taken seriously within a system that does not always listen. 'Tara' explores the cosmic attraction between dance and music, combining Indian classical dance forms with powerful rock sounds. 'Fluid' challenges the boundaries of masculinity and strength by blending the energetic movements of breakdance with the emotional depth of Indian singing.
In this workshop, Kalpana provides participants with an introduction to Triple Vision. You will learn movements from the classical South Indian dance form Bharatanatyam, combined with the contemporary dance language of Kalpanarts. Specific phrases from the performance will also be taught, recognizable when you later sit in the audience.
Participation is free, but registration is mandatory. You do not need any dance experience or special clothing.
