From August 20 to 22, Meervaart transforms into the setting for Kor Fest: three summer evenings full of comedy, new talent, live music and surprising encounters

COMMON GROUNDS is een avond waar beweging het gesprek opent. Drie performances – CRI(S)P, Momentum en Badke (remix) – tonen hoe lichamen zich losmaken van verwachtingen en nieuwe vormen van verbondenheid vinden. In ritme, geluid, gebaar, aanraking en stilte ontstaat een taal die iedereen kan verstaan.

In the second quarter of 2026, Meervaart Studio remained active as well. Through workshops, labs, masterclasses, showcases and events, young creators had plenty of opportunities to develop their talent, meet new people and gain stage experience. We look back on an inspiring quarter full of creativity, growth and wonderful collaborations – and after the summer, we look forward to building on this further.

Yesterday, Saturday June 27, we stood together with our North Holland winners at the national Kunstbende Final during the Young Creators Festival.

During the 24 Hours Nieuw-West x Blauwe Zone Festival, we opened our doors for an afternoon filled with music, spoken word, and connection. Emerging artists from Amsterdam performed with inspiring pop-up performances, and visitors got a unique glimpse behind the scenes of Meervaart during a backstage tour. A successful afternoon where talent, creativity, and community took center stage.

During 24 Hours Nieuw-West, Meervaart opens its doors for a special afternoon full of discovery and creativity. Visitors can participate in an exclusive backstage tour through the theater and get to know the behind-the-scenes spaces that normally remain hidden from the public. Additionally, young creators from Amsterdam present their talent during inspiring pop-up performances featuring music and spoken word. A unique opportunity to experience both the magic of theater and new cultural talent from Nieuw-West.

On Friday, June 12, the festive closing of the Meervaart Studio Film Lab took place in the Blue Hall of Meervaart. During Film Lab: Short Movie Night, three remarkable short films premiered, created by young filmmakers who had been working intensively on their own productions over the past months. Following the screenings, an inspiring conversation with presenter Rens ensued, in which the makers shared their experiences. The audience visibly enjoyed the evening and responded enthusiastically to the personal and creative stories that came to life on the big screen.

On Monday, June 1st, Meervaart hosted the live edition of the MIMA-nominated podcast OmaMa. Audiomaker and presenter Dija Kabba took the audience on a personal and compelling journey with composer Nana Adjoa, exploring stories about family, loss, racism, and reconciliation.
