Who are we?

Meervaart
Meervaart is a cultural hub where audiences and creators from diverse backgrounds, tastes, and ambitions come together. It connects the neighborhood, the city, and the wider world. Meervaart does this as a stage, as an incubator for talent, as a center for leisure activities, as a space for socio-artistic projects, and as a knowledge center for metropolitan performing arts. We seek out and present contemporary stories. We break through existing boundaries. Within projects, we work with both commercial and subsidized partners, both locally rooted and (inter)national, we blend disciplines and create unexpected connections between creators. Meervaart is Amsterdam's largest provider of programs that promote arts participation among children and young people.

Meervaart Studio
Young Amsterdammers (ages 15 to 26) can get involved at Meervaart Studio through a multidisciplinary workshop program. Art disciplines such as music, dance, theater, spoken word, visual art, film & photography are covered. Since 2004, Meervaart Studio has been a vibrant creative community in Amsterdam Nieuw-West. Many participants go on to the creative field as performers or makers.

For the Labs we work with partners; the Dutch Film Academy and Budgetcam have been partners of the Film Lab for years, Foam of our Photo Lab, and ISH Academy of our Dance Lab. All Labs conclude with a final presentation at an appropriate venue in Amsterdam.

Beyond our own events, we also program many of our artists and DJs at festivals and in clubs such as Paradiso, Bitterzoet, Melkweg, Club NYX, and the Chicago Social Club.

Finally, various masterclasses and other inspiring events are organized annually, such as the Creative Industry Talks where specialists share insights into their craft. These events offer the opportunity to network and meet fellow creatives. Through our activities, we want to give young talent the chance to build a portfolio that can help them progress to both art and culture education and jobs in the creative sector.
