The breeding ground for young Amsterdam theater talent

In Amsterdam, we are building a new generation of theater makers. The Theater Lab of Meervaart Studio is a unique platform where young talent is given the space to grow, experiment, and discover their own voice.

Over the course of several months, participants work under the guidance of an experienced maker/coach toward a final product: a montage production that is presented at Meervaart. During this process, not only creation is central, but especially discovery.

The Theater Lab is about collaboration, personal development, and artistic experimentation. Participants receive intensive guidance and are challenged to step outside their comfort zone. They learn to perform, create, reflect, and present — while simultaneously developing their own style and narrative.

In addition, participants receive instruction and mentorship from guest teachers from the field. This provides new insights, inspiration, and a broader perspective on theater making and performing.

The Theater Lab is a learning trajectory, but above all a place where fun, connection, and creativity come together. A place where you can experiment, fail, grow, and start anew.

In recent years, various theater makers have worked as coaches, including Priscilla Vaudelle, Elisa Costa, and José Montoya. Additionally, several participants have gone on to careers in theater and acting, where they continue to shape their professional paths.
