Meervaart
Meervaart is een cultureel knooppunt waar publiek en makers met uiteenlopende achtergronden, smaakvoorkeuren en ambities met elkaar in contact komen. Het verbindt de buurt, de stad en de wijdere wereld met elkaar. Dit doet Meervaart als podium, als broedkamer van talent, als centrum voor vrijetijdsbesteding, als plek voor sociaal-artistieke projecten en als kenniscentrum voor grootstedelijke podiumkunst. We zoeken en presenteren hedendaagse verhalen. We breken door bestaande hokjes heen. Binnen projecten werken we zowel met commerciële als gesubsidieerde partijen, zowel lokaal gebonden als (inter)nationaal, mengen we de disciplines en maken we niet voor de hand liggende verbindingen tussen makers. Meervaart is in Amsterdam de grootste aanbieder van programma’s die kunstparticipatie onder kinderen en jongeren bevorderen.

Meervaart Young 

At Meervaart Young, children and young people aged 2 to 21 discover how enjoyable it is to develop themselves creatively. Weekly, they take lessons in dance, theater, singing, DJ, music, visual arts and more. Creating together, practicing, playing and growing are at the core. 

Meervaart Young has been a place for years where young Amsterdammers from Nieuw-West and beyond can discover and develop their talent. Some participants take their first creative steps in a toddler dance class or theater play group, while others progress to advanced groups, production groups or even vocational art training. 

Within the lessons, attention is given to technique, creativity, collaboration and self-confidence. The groups are organized by age and level, so everyone can join in a pleasant way and continue to develop. Our teachers are professional makers, performers and artists from the field, who are happy to share their knowledge and enthusiasm with the next generation. 

The season concludes festively during the annual Meervaart Young Festival at Meervaart. During this festival, hundreds of participants present their work on professional stages to an audience of family, friends and neighbors. In addition, we regularly organize extra activities such as workshops, open classes, presentations and collaborations with cultural partners in the city. 

With Meervaart Young, we want to provide children and young people with a safe, inspiring place where they can be themselves, meet new people and discover what they have to share. 

Please note: our lessons are conducted entirely in Dutch!
