ROAD TO MELKWEG #2
On 12 December, Meervaart Studio and Melkweg are joining forces once again for an evening showcasing new musical talent from Amsterdam. During Music Lab – Meervaart Studio x Melkweg, seven artists will perform their own music on the Melkweg stage. From Dutch-language pop and hip-hop to R&B, soul and indie house: an evening bringing together different styles and personal stories.

With Road to Melkweg, Meervaart Studio invests in the artistic and personal development of young artists. Young people are given the space to discover their talent, experiment and develop their own artistic identity. Guided by artist Danny Dubb and professionals from the music industry, they work on their sound, stage presence and confidence. This helps them build not only their skills as artists, but also a network and experience that can help them move on to further education or a future in the creative sector.
Meervaart Studio wants to give young people the chance to find their voice, share their stories and realise their ambitions in a safe and supportive community. Giving them a professional stage, such as the Melkweg, makes the transition from talent development to the professional field tangible. The showcase is therefore more than a performance: it is a celebration of growth, creativity and new perspectives, as well as an important step in the artists’ development.
Thanks to the support of committed donors and funds such as Het Fonds voor Cultuurparticipatie, Meervaart Studio can continue to invest in young talent from Amsterdam and give young people the space to grow, inspire one another and find their place in the cultural sector.
Saafievdg is a Dutch rapper known for his raw, honest and uplifting hip-hop. His music is his diary: a place where he turns his experiences and feelings into stories that can move and inspire others.
RHON is an emerging artist with a distinctive, layered voice and a vulnerable style all her own. Accompanied by piano, she writes open, emotional music in which she freely explores her feelings and ideas.
Che Laurent is an emerging artist and producer who effortlessly moves between hip-hop, R&B, trap and Afro. His music is honest, reflective and dynamic, with emotion and personal stories running through it.
ZIPPORA is an energetic pop artist and performer. She writes and produces her own music, bringing together powerful melodies, electronic production and soulful influences
Wera Misset makes Dutch-language pop. With personal lyrics, eclectic synths and influences from jazz, R&B and cabaret, she tells the story of her restless journey into adulthood.
Aking makes hip-hop, R&B and soul, driven by a strong need to give thoughts, feelings and experiences a place. Inspired by jazz, soul and rock, Aking is always looking for new ways to translate emotions into music
Veyera is a confident Dutch-language artist. Her music is direct, feminine, and made for the baddies
ROAD TO MELKWEG #1
After weeks of coaching, rehearsals and artistic development, the moment finally arrived on 6 December 2025: the big Road to Melkweg show at Melkweg! In a packed Up Room, the selected artists showed what they could do. From soulful vocals to energetic rap and captivating pop, the audience was treated to an evening full of new talent from Amsterdam.
The programme brought young creators together to grow as performers and artists. With guidance from music industry professionals, they worked on their sound, stage presence and self-confidence. The final show was powerful proof of how far they had come—and, hopefully, the beginning of much more for many of them.

EP: MEERVAART STUDIO VOLUME 2 (2022)
Twelve musicians join forces for a special collaboration, the EP: Meervaart Studio Volume 2. This compilation album gives an impression of a new generation of Amsterdam artists.
On the record you can enjoy, among others, DALÌ and Alyssa van Ommeren with a strong contemporary mix of Jazz, Neo Soul, Soul and Blues. The fresh sound, inspiring and especially pure lyrics of rapper Dougie the Wolf and the energetic vibe with deep poetic texts of Hessel Du Mark. But also the deep and raw lyrics of rappers Berry van het Westen and Jetski. Collectief Keluarga (TeZi, TOS, Aelia Sapph & Djo) brings a laid-back soul, R&B, hip-hop & jazz vibe. The beats on the album are produced by, among others, Nilly Beats whose sounds are always grand, futuristic and distinctive, and Kotek Beats, a producer inspired by 90's Hip Hop, Jazz and Sound. In short, a special collaboration.

Meervaart Studio, Leeroy (Zwart Licht) and Joshua J. collaborated with a new generation of musicians, Ella John, Doenormaal, Rens, Effrens, J.A.D.E, Aelia Sapph, Season & Lester Vasilda, on this unique EP. The EP contains 8 tracks featuring influences from hip-hop, R&B, (future and neo) soul, grime, trap and afro. As an introduction, the musicians already showcased what they have to offer earlier this month on beats by Leeroy and Joshua J. These Cyphers can be viewed on Youtube.
