DJ Lab

At Meervaart Studio, the DJ Lab is currently in full swing: an intensive program where young Amsterdam talent is being prepared for the music scene. Under the guidance of coach DJ Rockefellababe, participants develop not only their technical skills, but also build their own sound, network, and future.

The DJ Lab is much more than just learning to DJ. In this in-depth program, participants dive deep into the world of the club scene and the entertainment industry. They receive practical tools, learn how to present themselves professionally, and discover what it takes to succeed in a competitive industry.

The current cohort – twelve motivated participants aged 18 to 25 – are working hard on their own DJ portfolio. Under intensive guidance from DJ Rockefellababe, they grow week after week, both behind the turntables and beyond. Guest lectures from names like Deejay Jahwin provide additional depth and inspiration.

"Your network starts here," says DJ Rockefellababe. And that's exactly what the DJ Lab excels at: creating a community where young makers strengthen each other. Participants learn not only from coaches, but also from one another – and together form the new generation of Amsterdam's DJ scene.

As the cherry on top, all participants work toward a professional final result: their own mixtape and a press kit that prepares them to take the next step toward bookings, collaborations, or further education.

The DJ Lab is part of Meervaart Studio's broader vision, where for more than twenty years a community has been built around an inclusive and energetic DJ culture. From first workshops to major stages: here young people have the space to grow, experiment, and find their place in the scene.

With alumni who are now performing at festivals like Lowlands and Amsterdam Dance Event, one thing is clear: the DJ Lab is not just a training program, but a springboard. And right now, in the heart of Amsterdam Nieuw-West, people are working hard to make it happen.
