Looking back: Meervaart Jong Summer Week 2026 

From July 7 to 9, the annual Meervaart Jong Summer Week was back on the schedule. Over three afternoons, around 80 children participated in a varied program full of theater, dance, film, visual arts, nature and sports & games. The Summer Week was completely sold out and brought children from across Amsterdam Nieuw-West together to discover new things and, most importantly, have plenty of fun. 

Starting from the Talentenhuis, the groups traveled each day to various workshop locations in and around Meervaart, guided by professional artists and teachers. They filmed, danced, played, built, drew and collaborated extensively. Participants also visited De Natuurkamer, where they worked creatively with natural materials. 

For some children, it was their first experience with theater or film, while others discovered how much pleasure they got from dance or visual arts. This variety gave the week its own dynamic. 

Alongside the workshops, there was plenty of opportunity to make new friends, play together and enjoy the summer atmosphere. Thanks to the dedication of all teachers, instructors, volunteers and interns, we look back on three inspiring and enjoyable days, and we look forward to welcoming many participants back to Meervaart Jong classes after the summer.
