Meervaart Studio's DJ Lab this year was entirely focused on development, community, and discovering your own sound. In an intensive program, young DJs worked under the guidance of experienced coaches, including DJ Rockefellababe, on their skills, performance, and artist identity. Not just behind the decks, but especially in how you present yourself within the club scene and the broader creative industry.

Over the weeks, a tight-knit group of creators emerged. A group that not only learned from professionals, but especially from each other. The DJ Lab is therefore more than just a training program: it's a place where you build your network, develop your style, and gradually find your way in the Amsterdam music scene.

Alongside workshops and coaching, participants worked toward their own end result: mixtapes and live performances ready to take to the audience. This process was strengthened by various moments outside the studio, such as a visit on May 9 to the radio show GLXY Radio. Here, the DJs discussed what it means to be successful in the music world. The conclusion was clear: it's not just about technique, but especially about identity, perseverance, and being able to show yourself as a creator. Naast workshops en coaching werkten de deelnemers toe naar hun eigen eindresultaat: mixtapes en live performances die klaar zijn om het publiek in te gaan. Dat proces werd versterkt door verschillende momenten buiten de studio, zoals een bezoek op 9 mei aan de radioshow GLXY Radio. Hier gingen de DJ’s in gesprek over wat het betekent om succesvol te zijn in de muziekwereld. De conclusie was helder: het draait niet alleen om techniek, maar juist ook om identiteit, doorzettingsvermogen en jezelf kunnen laten zien als maker. Het traject kwam samen in een reeks showcase-momenten waarin het publiek de nieuwe generatie DJ’s kon ontdekken. Het hoogtepunt was de eindshow op 13 mei in The Tequila Club, waar de deelnemers hun groei, stijl en energie lieten zien in een volle clubsetting. Alles kwam hier samen: techniek, performance en presence.

Diezelfde avond vond ook Streaming Sessies #3 in The Tequila Club plaats. In een intieme maar energieke setting werden DJ-sets live opgenomen en gestreamd voor een online publiek, waardoor het talent niet alleen in de club te horen was, maar ook digitaal een breder publiek bereikte.

Het DJ Lab 2026 liet opnieuw zien waarom Meervaart Studio een belangrijke springplank is voor opkomende DJ’s in Amsterdam: een plek waar experiment, begeleiding en podium samenkomen en waar de sound van morgen vandaag al begint. We kijken uit naar het volgende DJ Lab traject.
