A glimpse behind the scenes and a platform for new talent

On Saturday, June 20th, Nieuw-West will be a hub of connection, creativity, and discovery during 24 Hours Nieuw-West. Throughout the district, free activities will take place in the fields of art, culture, and sports. Meervaart is also participating with a special program that gives visitors both a literal and figurative look behind the scenes.

Step into the world of Meervaart

Backstage tour 
Have you ever wondered what happens behind the curtain before a show begins? During the exclusive Backstage Tour at Meervaart, you'll have the chance to discover the theater from the inside. Led by artistic coordinator and head of Profile & Creation Christiaan Mooij, you'll walk through spaces that are normally only accessible to artists and staff.

You'll walk across the stage, peek into the wings, visit the dressing rooms and artist lounge, and hear fascinating stories from nearly fifty years of Meervaart history along the way. A unique experience for everyone curious about the life behind the scenes of one of Amsterdam's largest theaters.

Pop-up Performances + Mini Open Mic at Meervaart Studio
Alongside the backstage tour, energy buzzes outside as well. Between 2:00 PM and 4:00 PM, young artists from Amsterdam will present their work during a series of Pop-up Performances at Meervaart Studio. Read more information here.

Mini Open Mic
Want to take the stage too? During two short open mic slots, you'll get the chance to present your work:

• 2:45 PM – 3:00 PM
• 3:45 PM – 4:00 PM

Open mic rules

• First come, first served (spots are limited).
• Maximum 2.5 minutes per person.
• A basic sound setup is available with one microphone and a speaker.
• Personal setups or additional equipment cannot be used.
