The Dance Lab is a trajectory for young dance talent seeking depth, creativity and a platform. Under the guidance of dancer & choreographer Gino Jagessar you work towards your own compilation performance at Meervaart. In this trajectory, research, creativity and collaboration are central!
Gino is known for his energetic and expressive movement language, influenced by house and locking. His classes focus on musicality, groove, character and funk. In the Dance Lab he challenges dancers to further develop their creativity, performance and technique in funk styles.
FOR WHOM?
Young Amsterdammers (18–26 years) with experience in dance and the motivation to further develop themselves. The Dance Lab is a place for research, experimentation and growth!
ABOUT DANCE LAB:
The Dance Lab is a unique platform for developing young Amsterdam dance talent by Meervaart Studio. Under the leadership of a professional dancer/maker, 12-15 participants aged 18-26 work towards a compilation performance of approximately 30 minutes. The trajectory consists of weekly coaching in which research, investigation, collaboration and personal development are central. Over a number of months you are trained, guided and coached with the end result being a performance at Meervaart.

OVER GASTCOACH GINO JAGESSAR
Gino Jagessar is danser, choreograaf en docent en gespecialiseerd in hiphop, house en locking. Hij danst bij Avant Garde Collective en ISH Dance Collective en was te zien in producties als ISHterious, Animatronics en ISH Open Nights. In 2026 staat hij op het podium in de voorstelling GRIMM. Daarnaast was Gino te zien als 'choreograaf Funk' in het tv programma Project Dans
Als coach combineert Gino zijn ervaring uit theater, battles en de urban dansscene met een rustige, inspirerende aanpak. In het Meervaart Studio Dans Lab stimuleert hij dansers om hun eigen stijl te ontwikkelen, samen te creëren en artistiek te groeien.

PARTICIPATION REQUIREMENTS
- You are between 16 – 26 years old
- You live, work or study in Amsterdam
- You have a minimum of 2 years of dance experience
- You are available from October 2026 through January 2027
- You are available on Saturday 9 January & Saturday 26 January 2027

GENERAL:
- All labs are exclusively for young people aged 16-26 who live, work or study in Amsterdam.
- You will receive 12 lessons and coaching from professional(s).
- The course fee is €100 per program, including Meervaart Studio season membership (free use of rehearsal and recording spaces).
- Lessons are taught entirely in Dutch.
